Lucy Sykes – Consultant

Lucy Sykes joined Elwood Law in January 2017 from one of New Zealand’s largest commercial law firms. Lucy has over 15 years’ commercial law experience and has significant experience in Government contracting. Her practice includes advising public sector entities on procurement, from assisting to draft tender documentation through to drafting, negotiating and advising on the implementation of procurement contracts, as well as assisting clients on infrastructure and construction matters.

Lucy advised on the construction and services aspects of New Zealand’s first five PPPs (public private partnerships), and is well known for providing practical and commercial solutions efficiently and pragmatically.

Lucy enjoys working closely with project teams and is well versed in interpreting technical and engineering needs and translating them into contractual requirements, including working closely with the technical members of the team to test what the requirement actually is and what constraints exist, to obtain certainty and consistency and, accordingly, to reduce risk to the project.
